The Utah Jazz have made an offer to Boston Celtics assistant Will Hardy to become the franchise’s new head coach, according to multiple reports.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday the Jazz were finalizing a five-year deal for Hardy to replace former coach Quin Snyder, who left the organization with one year left on his contract.

Shams Charania from The Athletic said Hardy emerged as the top candidate after an extensive search among former head coaches, assitants and G League coaches.

The 34-year-old Celtics assistant would be the youngest active coach in the NBA, if the deal were to go through.

Hardy worked as an assistant for several years under Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs. He went to Boston with former Spurs assistant Ime Udoka when he was hired as the Celtics head coach.

He played four years at Williams College in Massachusetts before working various jobs for the Spurs' organization, starting as the team's video coordinator. Hardy eventually became an assistant then a bench coach.

Hardy worked for Team USA during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as a member of Popovich's staff.
