State police in Ridgway have charged an Elk County man for his role in the overdose death of a 35-year-old man earlier this year.
Troopers say Joseph Cesa Jr., 35, of Dagus Mines, is accused of delivering heroin to Aaron Christopher Johnson, who was found dead inside a Fox Township home in early February.
Authorities say police were dispatched to the home, located along the 100 block of Country Lane, on the evening of Feb. 2.
Police say Johnson was found dead of a suspected overdose inside a basement bedroom of the home.
According to the affidavit, a search of Johnson's phone revealed that he had been in contact with Cesa, as well as 33-year-old Alex Weis, to purchase heroin.
Upon further investigation, police learned that Weis supplied the heroin to Cesa that he then delivered to Johnson.
Authorities say an autopsy report revealed that Johnson died as a result of "acute multi-drug toxicity."
Both Cesa and Weis face charges of drug delivery resulting in death, drug manufacturing and criminal use of a communication device, according to online court documents.
Cesa has been released on unsecured $100,000 bail, court dockets show, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19.
Weis has not yet been arraigned.
