BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) would like drivers to be aware of a Botetourt County bike race that will be taking place Wednesday along Route 11.
According to VDOT, on Wednesday, June 29, Route 11 North — between Trinity Road and Hardbarger Road– will be closed due to the event. The bike race will take place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with traffic control put into place from 2 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
During this time, one northbound lane will be shifted to one southbound, with one lane each in both directions available with turn restrictions.
Drivers should expect delays throughout the course, as left-turning lanes will also be closed.
There will also be a detour placed on Lithia Road because Hardbarger will be closed until noon.
For more up-to-date information while traveling on Route 11, VDOT says message boards have been put into place to alert drivers.
