14 Acres Vineyard & Winery to host summer concert series

A vineyard and winery in North Clark County will once again put on its summer concert series, which showcases local musicians every weekend from July to August.

David Regan, the owner of Ridgefield-based 14 Acres Vineyard & Winery,  is ready to host the musicians and also has some new exclusive wines to unveil to guests.

“It’s just a fun, calm, peaceful, tranquil atmosphere,” Regan said. “It’s out in the country, there’s trees, there’s grass, it’s really secluded. Sometimes in an amphitheater, you feel like you’re in a prison, so it’s just a little bit more of a relaxed type of fun.”

Regan said the “excellent lineup” of musicians range from Taken by the Sky, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, to Aaron Meyer, who is a rock concert violinist. Regan said Stone in Love, a Journey cover band, is the most popular performer.

“Everybody we have lined up is kind of unique in their own way. If one person doesn’t want to see an ‘80s rock band, they can see Hit Machine, who do a little bit more contemporary music,” Regan said. “Caryn Hart is more laid back and relaxed. Kalimba, who does Earth, Wind, and Fire songs, is absolutely amazing.”

The festival will also feature Sky and Petty Fever, a Tom Petty cover band.

“That guy sounds exactly like Tom Petty, and so does the Journey tribute band,” he said.

Despite the music lined up for the event, Regan is most excited to debut his new wines. He said the winery has “completely changed the recipe” and the process to craft them.

“We’ve got six reds we’re going to have released and then five whites,” Regan said. “The pinot rosé is a white wine, but it’s a rosé, so it’s kind of its own thing. Some of these wines are fantastic and I’m anticipating that they’re going to be award-winning. … If you’re a white wine connoisseur, and you want a conversational wine, Gewürztraminer is going to be that wine.”

Regan said the winery hosted blind tastings with some of its staff, while comparing the wines to others from Washington state. In those tastings, 90% of participants preferred 14 Acres’ Gewürztraminer without knowing where it came from.

Regan also highlighted the design of the bottles, one of which his wife, Charlotte, designed.

“I would not have been able to do this without her. I’m the engine of the locomotive, but she’s the tracks,” he said. “She is the creative side, and I’m the get-it-done side. She comes up with all the ideas and I come up with the way of how to do it.”

The first concert will take place on July 10.
