WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO, (WOLF) —
After a 50-year-long wait, members of the First Presbyterian Church got to open their long-sealed cornerstone.

Members say it was more difficult to get it opened than they anticipated.
Once inside, they found numerous documents and photographs that date back hundreds of years.
The opening of the cornerstone is part of the church's 250th anniversary in serving the Wilkes-Barre community.
The church's minister, Reverend Robert Zanicky, spoke about the tradition with FOX56.
We're continuously thinking in terms of 'what're we going to put in the time capsule for the folks of 50 years from now?' We're asking the congregation to give us some ideas. Somebody did mention something that shows who we are to the people of 50 years later. I think we're going to do something like that in terms of 'Dear friends of the future!' We're still working on what we're going to put in there.

The church hopes this is a way to bring in new members of the church for years to come.
