UPDATE at 4:50 p.m., June 28: The following article has been updated with new information from the Chico Police Department regarding the fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Forest Avenue on Tuesday.
An 86-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a car while crossing the street in eastern Chico on Tuesday.
Chico police said they began receiving multiple 911 calls regarding the crash on Forest Avenue at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. They arrived at the scene and found 86-year-old Martha Davis injured on the ground.
Although Davis was transported to a local hospital immediately following the crash, she later died due to her injuries, police said.
The driver of the involved vehicle, a 32-year-old man, had his fiancé and grandmother riding in the car during the incident. After investigating the crash, police determined drugs/alcohol and speeding were not factors in the crash. They determined Davis was crossing Forest Ave. outside the crosswalk at the time.
CPD said no charges will be filed against the driver.

Several road closures are in place following a major accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian in south Chico late Tuesday morning, according to police.
All northbound traffic on Forrest Avenue, from Springfield Drive to Amanda Way, is expected to be closed for several hours.
Police ask the public to avoid the area.
