Mrs. Nadine Hughes Thomas, widow of the late Carroll E. Thomas, passed away at her home Friday morning, June 24, 2022 under hospice care, with her family by her side.  She was 90. 

Mrs. Thomas was born September 9, 1931 a daughter of Lewis and Annie Williams Hughes.  She was an active member of Hendersonville Baptist Church, where she directed the social hall committee for many years.  She was an excellent Southern cook, and was known throughout the area for her delicious baked goods…especially her cakes.  Mrs. Thomas loved spending time outdoors in her yard enjoying God’s creations, and was especially fond of the hummingbirds that regularly visited her feeders. 

She is survived by her children:  Janine Thomas Smoak (Michael) of Walterboro, and Martha Ann Thomas Bell (Charlie) and Michael Eugene Thomas of Mewville.  She leaves behind ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law Jan Thomas.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Steve “Stevie” Thomas. 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Amedysis Hospice and  nurses Heather and Taylor, and also to her caregivers Mary Middleton, Angie Taylor, Shirley Salley, and Ann Jamison.

Mrs. Thomas will be interred beside her late husband in a private graveside service.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
