The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office has charged three Ohio men in connection with an armed robbery home invasion that occurred in a North Syracuse neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
Deputies say around 4:30 a.m. they, along with New York State Police, responded to a home on the 300 block of Chestnut Street for a report of a burglary in progress.
A child in the home called 911 to report that at least two men had broken into the home.
When troopers and deputies arrived on the scene, one man fled from the home on foot but was quickly apprehended.
Deputies say a second man was found inside the home and the third fled from the house and was caught a short distance away.
After further investigation, deputies say they found a woman inside the home with her hands tied behind her back who had minor injuries to her head.
They also found a man with a minor injury to his ear.
Deputies say three children in the home were unharmed.
The victims reported to deputies that the suspects were armed with handguns, which deputies later found at the scene.
The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Malik Shabazz, 31-year-old Andres Arzola-Torres, and 33-year-old Anthony Santiago, all from Ohio, are now facing charges of robbery, possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child among others.
The three men are expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, June 28.
Detectives believe the victims were targeted, though the investigation is still active and ongoing.
