Central Michigan field hockey has released its 2022 schedule.

It will be the program's first season being led by new coach Jennifer Johnstone, who was hired in February to replace Catherine Ostoich.

After beginning the season Aug. 21 with an exhibition against Michigan State, the Chippewas will start regular season play with neutral site games against Saint Louis and American. Both games, Saint Louis on Aug. 26 and American on Aug. 28, will be played at Michigan State.

CMU stays on the road for the next two weeks, with games at Michigan against Ohio and the Wolverines scheduled for Sept. 2 and 4. Following that, the Chippewas will play at Bucknell Sept. 9 and at Lock Haven Sept. 11.

Johnstone and the Chippewas will have their first home game against Bellarmine Sept. 16, which marks the team's Mid-American Conference opener. After that, road games against Appalachian State Sept. 23 and William & Mary Sept. 25 await.

The Chippewas will play consecutive home games against Ball State (Sept. 30) and Saint Francis (Oct. 2) before playing a non-conference game at Ohio State on Oct. 7. The matchup with the Buckeyes is the first of four straight on the road, with matchups against Kent State (Oct. 9), Ohio (Oct. 14) and Lindenwood (Oct. 16) competing the stretch.

CMU finishes the regular season with three straight at home. First, it will host Michigan State (Oct. 19) before hosting conference games against Miami (Ohio) Oct. 21 and Longwood Oct. 29.

The MAC tournament is scheduled for Nov. 4-6 and will be hosted by the conference's regular season champion.
