Man sentenced to 65 years in prison for shooting death of 36-year-old woman in rural Ripley County
An Indiana man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for the death of a 36-year-old woman in rural Ripley County, Indiana, last year.It happened on Jan. 11, 2021, when a woman was found dead in a home along CR 700 West in rural Ripley County. At the time, investigators with Indiana State Police said they suspected foul play, adding that they were investigating the woman’s death as a homicide.The body of Kristina "Krissy" Jones, 36, was found inside a home on County Road 700 West near Holton, Indiana. An investigation by Indiana State Police reveals someone placed a 911 call in the early morning hours of Jan. 11 after Jones was found unresponsive in the bathroom of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.An autopsy conducted after Jones' death revealed she died as a result of gunshot wounds. Following their investigation, police arrested Jordan Knudson, 36, who they said was formerly in a relationship with Jones.Knudson was arrested on one count of murder.Knudson was sentenced Tuesday to 65 years in prison after a jury convicted him of murder.Judge Ryan King said aggravating factors led to the increased sentence, saying there was evidence of an escalating domestic violence relationship.
