After 27 years with Two Rivers Main Street, and 7 years as Executive Director, Roger Russove is hanging up his boots this Friday.
Roger first took over as executive director in 2015 but was also actively involved with the organization since it was founded in 1995.
We spoke with Roger about his time with Two Rivers Main Street.
“The job has been a blessing to me,” he said. “I’ve loved it, it’s been a lot of fun, it’s been a lot of work, it’s great to see all the wonderful things that have been accomplished in Two Rivers.”
One big change he noted was the transition from an industrial community to one based on tourism.
“Which we need to do, but also, we have great assets for that,” he explained. “Places like Woodland Dunes, and Neshotah Beach, which we promote as the best beach in Wisconsin, and it is. Rivers for kayaking, Point Beach State Forest, there’s so many things to do outside.”
Roger’s last big hoorah was actually this past weekend as he ran the Cool City Classic Car Show.
He told us he has been involved in 11 car shows, including several before he took over as executive director.
“It’s always been near and dear to my heart,” he told Seehafer News. “It’s a fun event. We have a great committee of people…Anything like this takes two things to be successful, great volunteers, and a great committee with great sponsors. We have had all of that.”
As far as what the future holds for Roger, he said that he doesn’t want to quit working just yet.
He said he would love to help local businesses with their marketing, but for now, he plans on “laying low” and relaxing.
He ended by saying “Thank you to the City of Two Rivers, the Two Rivers business community, and the residents of Two Rivers for the opportunity to serve as the Director of Two Rivers Main Street. It’s been great, and I’m looking forward to the future of the community.”
