Improvements across Logan County are always in motion. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is in need of improvements, many of which were on the agenda waiting for approval at the commissioner meeting last Wednesday.

All items were approved unanimously by the Board including;

A payment to LeadsOnline, in the amount of $3526. LeadsOnline is a software program that monitors online information, like pawnshops and craiglist ads, to allow easier access for the Sheriff’s department to lead investigations.

A Planned Maintenance Agreement with Clifford Power Systems, in the amount of $1170. This either powers a generator or a cooling system for the Sheriff’s computers.

An extended warranty agreement with iTouch Biometrics LLC, in the amount of $2480. This is the Sheriff’s digital fingerprint machine.

An Inmate Communications Service Subscriber Agreement with NCIC Inmate Communications, which will allow for better and easier communication between inmates and their families.

According to Sheriff Damon Devereaux, the new system will have no cost to the county, but it will be a pay by service program and will be much better for the inmates and their families.

A service fee for Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC), in the amount of $300. Similar to LeadsOnline, with information sharing and equipment requests.

A continued Interlocal Agreement with Canadian County for housing of Canadian County inmates in the Logan County Detention Center. It is about $42 per day and is seen as a “valuable partnership” considering how much Canadian County has grown according to Devereaux.

Sheriff Devereaux thanked the Board of Commissioners for their continued support of the Logan County Sheriff’s department.
