Attleboro man accused of assault and battery, vandalism in rampage over Cape Cod beach sticker

An Attleboro man faced several charges after he was accused of going on a violent and destructive rampage after learning he needed a parking sticker at a Cape Cod beach, according to police. Falmouth police responded to Chapoquoit Beach at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of a man, later identified as Augusto Darosa, assaulting people and slashing tires. The man fled on foot, but after a search with a K9 and the State Police Airwing, he was located hiding on a boat in West Falmouth Harbor. Darosa was arrested.Darosa, 45, was charged with two counts each of assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, assault and battery, threatening to commit a crime, intimidation of a witness, vandalizing property and a single count each of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and breaking and entering a vehicle or boat in the nighttime for felony, Falmouth police said. The incident reportedly stemmed from Darosa becoming very agitated and threatening a parking lot attendant upon learning he needed a parking sticker, police said. He returned later and slashed a vehicle’s tires, physically assaulted witnesses and threatened witnesses with a knife, police said.
