Two teenagers are facing charges after a traffic stop at 24th and E Street around 2:40 Monday morning.
LPD Captain Todd Kocian says a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. A 15 year old male passenger told the officer that there was about a pound of marijuana inside the vehicle.
A search was conducted and a .40 caliber handgun was found on the floor under the driver’s seat. That handgun had been reported stolen in October of 2021 from a home in the 6300 block of 23th Street. Officers also found 15.2 ounces of marijuana, three boxes of ammunition, various drug paraphernalia, and $2,819 in cash.
The 15 year old passenger was booked for possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to deliver, and carrying a concealed weapon.
A 17 year old passenger was booked for possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of money while violating a drug law.
The driver of the vehicle was not cited.
