Eddy County Sheriff's Detectives investigate deaths at oilfield site near Artesia

The death of two men at oilfield site near Artesia is under investigation by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators did not release the names of either men.

Both men were unresponsive and not breathing when deputies arrived at the site near U.S. Highway 82 and Turkey Track Road east of Artesia around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Eddy County Sheriff’s office.

Both men were pronounced dead by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator (OMI). The cause of their death was still under investigation.
