CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Former Bengals player turned developer Chinedum Ndukwe took the stand Tuesday in the corruption trial of former Cincinnati City Council member P.G. Sittenfeld.
Ndukwe testified that he did not make a deal with the FBI to record calls with Sittenfeld in exchange for immunity because he himself was under federal investigation. He said he just wanted to "do the right thing".
He went on to say he wanted to keep local politicians from "shaking other people down the way they shook me down".
He added that he believes the city of Cincinnati has been "extremely corrupt for a very long time".
When asked how he was solicited to donate to so many political campaigns, Ndukwe answered, “Now looking back after years of this, they took advantage of my motivation to run in those circles.“
The FBI paid $27,000 to Ndukwe to work with him. He said he did not ask for the money, it was just given to him.
