SANTA ROSA BEACH — Around 40 homes on Magical Place Drive were evacuated Tuesday morning following reports of a gas leak.

Multiple South Walton Fire District crews responded to the area in Santa Rosa Beach about 9:30 a.m., according to a SWFD Facebook post. The gas leak was the result of a ruptured 2-inch service line.

No injuries were reported.

Tents were propped up to provide residents shade and water while Okaloosa Gas worked to mitigate the issue. All evacuees were allowed back into their homes around 10 a.m. after the immediate hazard was mitigated.

Okaloosa Gas was continuing to complete necessary repairs Tuesday morning.
