The Cros-Lex Board of Education has two openings following two resignations.

The Croswell-Lexington Board of Education has accepted another resignation.

Trustee Nathan Butler submitted his letter of resignation June 24.

And while he follows the resignations of board secretary Joe Vitale and superintendent Dan Gilbertson earlier this month, Butler said there shouldn't be any concerns.

“I don’t want anyone to think that this is some grand conspiracy because it’s bad there, because that is not the case,” he said. “It’s a great district in great hands.”

Butler said he is resigning because of the demand and stress from his full-time job as a Detroit firefighter. He said he felt he could not give the time the position deserves.

“There’s people who are interested and can put in the time the district needs and deserves to move forward,” Butler said.

Butler’s term on the board of education was set to expire in 2024.

The district is accepting applications. People can find an application and attached questionnaire on the district website. Applications are due by 3 p.m. on July 1.

Butler said Cros-Lex was a great school district to work for and he enjoyed his time on the board. He said everyone he worked with was professional and he’s thankful for the work they do at Cros-Lex.

Colette Moody was also announced as interim superintendent during Monday night's board meeting. Moody is listed as the principal of Frostick Elementary on the district's website.

She was not immediately available for comment.
