Leaked Seahawks Baker Mayfield jersey sends internet into frenzy

Did the Seahawks leak a Baker Mayfield jersey on their Pro Shop?

That’s a question NFL fans cast across Twitter when a screengrab of a fake Pro Shop page showed a Seahawks No. 6 Mayfield jersey for sale — which led to speculation Seattle leaked the page, then took it down.

The viral photo is fake, according to Pro Football Talk. Quandre Diggs currently wears No. 6 for the Seahawks, and Seattle has his jersey for sale on the team’s Pro Shop website.

The jersey drama took over Twitter just days after CBS Sports reported Seattle still has a “high-level of interest” in acquiring Mayfield and is open to contractually extending the estranged Browns quarterback.

The Seahawks are reportedly still in the process gathering information and looking into Mayfield — who requested a trade out of Cleveland in March, after the Browns acquired his replacement in former Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Seattle is in need of a quarterback after they traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos in a March blockbuster. Their quarterback room includes Drew Lock and Geno Smith.

Mayfield has also been linked to the Panthers, who reportedly had talks with Cleveland about a possible trade for the quarterback — but according to the Charlotte Observer, both sides couldn’t come to an agreement about how much of Mayfield’s $18.8 million guaranteed salary would be paid by the Browns.

Carolina also selected former Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft in April.
