Atlanta Braves closer Kenley Jansen has been placed on the 15-day IL due to an irregular heartbeat, backdated to June 27, according to the Braves' social media.

Jansen has reportedly dealt with a heart condition throughout his career and has dealt with this issue dating back to 2018 when he had successful surgery to correct the issue.

The closer has appeared in 32 games and has been very good for the Braves. He's accounted for 20 saves in 2022 with a 3.58 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings pitched.

Jésus Cruz will fill the vacant roster spot after spending the last eight days with the Gwinnett Stripers due to roster restrictions. The Braves will look to either A.J. Minter or Will Smith to fill the closer spot.
