WARREN (WWJ) - Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old woman whose body was discovered by officers inside a Warren home on Tuesday morning.

Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer told WWJ that his department received a request for a welfare check at a home located in the 13000 block of Sherman, north of 8 Mile between Groesbeck and Schoenherr.

"The cause of death is undetermined at this time," Dwyer said, " We did have a weapon that was recovered near the body. It could be a homicide or it could be a suicide; it's just undetermined at this time."

Dwyer confirmed that no one else was at the residence, although he did agree that the victim was found in a "family" home.

No other details about the case were given; the investigation remains ongoing.
