Clearfield State Police, PennDOT Collaborate for ‘Operation Yellow Jacket’

CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) – Clearfield-based State Police recently partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for “Operation Yellow Jacket” which aims to enforce safer driving through work zones.

The sting was conducted along Clearfield County highways on Wednesday, June 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Operation Yellow Jacket” is a program in which State Police troopers conduct speed enforcement from the vantage point of PennDOT highway maintenance vehicles.

The trooper in the PennDOT vehicle then communicates observed violations via radio to patrol units in the area.

This program, which has been in place for several years across Pennsylvania, allows agencies to work together to keep highways safe for everyone, including emergency responders and highway maintenance workers.

During this one-day initiative, PSP Clearfield issued 20 traffic citations and 16 warnings for various traffic violations.
