Galesburg Police on Sunday afternoon (6/26) were dispatched to the Public Square for a fight in progress. The Railroad Days carnival was taking place at the time. Officers first met with a group of females who reported two male juveniles fighting on the square. The two males were separated and detained. As officers were escorting the males to a squad car, according to police reports, 30 or 40 people went running by officers, and a large group of people – mostly juveniles, had gathered around another altercation taking place. An adult male subject was seen running towards another juvenile male subject and began striking him repeatedly in the face and head. Numerous people in the crowd were encouraging the two to fight. Police responded back to the crowd and began deploying pepper spray until the crowd dispersed. The adult male was identified as 25-year-old Emmett Blow of Galesburg. The two male juveniles were each charged with Disorderly Conduct and released to their guardians. Blow was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Mob Action and Aggravated Battery.
