There Are Many Causes of a Single Vehicle Crash

There are a number of reasons an accident involving a single vehicle happens. They are among the most common types of collisions. In some cases, the driver was speeding or distracted. In others, the driver may have been drinking or fatigued. However, some accidents involving a single vehicle occur outside the control of the driver, such as the following:

  • An aggressive driver can cause what initially appears to be a solo vehicle crash. Aggressive drivers are known to tailgate, can threaten other motorists and even force them off the roadway. If this happens, an injury lawyer can examine witness statements and surveillance cameras in the area to determine if another driver was the cause. When that driver is located, they can be held responsible for any accident injuries.
  • Poorly maintained roadways can cause a vehicle crash, resulting in serious injuries. When the government entity in charge of maintenance has not attended to fissures or upheavals in the roadway, potholes, bad overhead lighting or malfunctioning traffic lights, they can be held liable for accident injuries. Since the time limit for filing against a government entity is six months, using an injury lawyer to handle your claim can be advisable. In this way, deadlines will be met, and the lawyer can negotiate a fair settlement for you.
  • Defective auto parts: When the accelerator on a vehicle sticks, the power steering goes out, a tire blowout occurs or the brakes fail, it may be because there is a defect involved. If a car accident occurs, it is important to keep the vehicle so that it can be checked for defects. If a defect caused your vehicle to crash, you can place a claim against the manufacturer and others in the line of production by filing a product liability lawsuit. Negligence does not have to be proved in California, only that the defective product was used as it was intended and remained unaltered.
