In addition, the region is known for some favorite annual events that are returning for Summer 2022.



The Chautauqua Institution Summer Season

Chautauqua Institution is a one-stop vacation experience, featuring views of Chautauqua Lake, lush gardens, inviting green spaces, and expressions of every era of American architecture dating back to the late 1800s. In fact, when it comes to creating small town culture, the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region was voted for being the best of the best in America by USA Today.

This summer marks the triumphant return of typical programming! This means another great summer season including nine weeks of artistic, educational, interfaith, and recreational programming presented by the Chautauqua Institution starting on June 25 and running through August 28. With returning artists and newcomers alike, this is sure to be an unforgettable summer of fun!

The Great Blue Heron Festival

July 1 to 3

The Great Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman has become a tradition for nearly 30 years. It’s a chance to celebrate music, nature, and the spirit of self-expression. The annual event draws thousands of fans from across the U.S. and features Americana music at a scenic, hilly campground.

Wild America Nature Festival

July 29 to 31 

This festival hosted by Panama Rocks Scenic Park is a chance to experience the sights and sounds of nature. There’s an arts and crafts show, live music, locally-sourced food, wild animals to meet, and more!

Lucille Ball Comedy Festival

August 3 to 7

Lucille Ball had a special vision for her hometown. She hoped it would become a destination dedicated to celebrating the comedic arts. During this annual festival, that’s exactly what it becomes. 

The 30th annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival presented by The National Comedy Center is bringing more than 50 events and 30 artists to Jamestown. It’s an opportunity to share laughter while also honoring the craft and its contributors in dozens of venues throughout town.
