CHP: Pedestrian killed in early morning traffic collision south of Redding

Authorities are investigating a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision that killed a 31-year-old man just south of Redding early Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

The man died when for unknown reasons he walked into the path of a 1999 GMC that was traveling west on Canyon Road east of China Gulch Road, investigators said.

The accident was reported around 5 a.m.

Investigators said the Redding man, whose identity was not released, was walking west on Canyon Road.

The man driving the GMC was not injured, the CHP said.
