None of the overdoses were fatal

Five people overdosed at the Tryon International Equestrian Center Friday and one of those overdoses was linked to a fentanyl-laced lollipop, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Ramsey with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.Ramsey said none of the reported overdoses were fatal and everyone involved knew they were purchasing narcotics. The overdoses happened while the PBR Tryon Chute Out Bull Competition was happening, but Ramsey did not know if the people who overdosed were attending that event at the center. Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with assistance from the Tryon International Equestrian Center administration, are investigating. "The Sheriff’s Office does not feel that there ever was or is a current danger to the general public with these overdose cases," a post on the Polk County Sheriff's Office Facebook page said. A cash reward is available to anyone with information leading to arrests.
