ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

It was a hot day Saturday as the Punishers LEMC Three Rivers Chapter hosted a Poker Run and After Party at their clubhouse to benefit the Elmore Volunteer Fire Department.

About 60 riders took part in the Poker Run with stops at the American Legion Post 133, Big Star Tavern, American Legion Post 122, and Wetumpka VFW Post 4572.

After the ride, the fun continued as an After Party was held at the Clubhouse off Friendly Pines Road for the Punishers LEMC Three Rivers Chapter. Ruckertown Road performed on the club’s new outdoor stage, great food was available and many took part in the silent auction. All proceeds raised throughout the day will be presented to the Elmore Volunteer Fire Department.

According to Punishers Three Rivers President Johnny Stiles, the early count shows that will be around $4,000.

From The Punishers LEMC Three Rivers Chapter: “Saturday was such an amazing day! We want to thank everyone that braved this heat wave to support us on our ride for the Elmore VFD and after party. Thank you to the American Legion Post 133 Riders for partnering with us in this ride. Thank you to American Legion Post 133, American Legion Post 122, Wetumpka VFW, and the Big Star Tavern for opening your doors early for us. We couldn’t have done this without y’all! A huge thank you to Brandon Jordan and Ruckertown Road for keeping the stage rocking all night. We look forward to see y’all back at the clubhouse for Bike Night / Open House on July 23!”

This is the second year in a row the local Punishers have held such a benefit. Last year the beneficiary was the Coosada Fire Department.

Throughout the year the Punishers also sponsor lunches and dinners for area first responders, take part in the Food Drop program with the WELCOME Food Pantry and are a primary supporter of the annual Operation Blue Santa. The Millbrook Police Department hosts the event which provides Christmas presents for area children. The Punishers host the Blue Santa Ride which draws hundreds of bikers from across the country to help raise funds and provide toys and bicycles for Blue Santa.

Each month the Punishers host an Open Club House event with live music to raise funds for local charities.

This year’s Blue Santa Ride, Concert and After Party event will tentatively be held the first weekend of December. Stay tuned, as we will have more information on that great event in the near future. The Punishers are working on a great lineup of multiple bands for the daytime and early evening event, as well as an After Party at their clubhouse.
