An Auburn woman will appear on the 9am hour of the Today Show Wednesday to talk about her weight loss journey.
Doreen Fox of Auburn decided to make changes the week before Thanksgiving and she's been losing weight ever since. To date, she has lost 57 pounds.
This month she's been doing the Today Show Challenge. It's a 30-day walking plan to boost weight loss.
"You tell me I can't do it, I'm going to do it," Fox said.
Fox, a former nurse, said when she started walking, she would do 3,500 or 4,000 steps and now she's up to 10,000 or 15,000.
She's on the Challenge's Facebook page and encourages other people. In June alone, she's lost 6.7 pounds so far, she said.
"If I can help one person to get healthy, maybe to get off the conch, get off their chair, that they don't think they can walk, any co-morbidities they can rid of, reduce their stress, I'm all for that," Fox said.
Fox, who turns 58 next month, said she doesn't eat white carbohydrates anymore. She also eats more salads and drinks a ton of water. She says her husband, who she married in 2020, has been supportive and goes for walks with her. Fox says she feels amazing.
"I've had the back injuries, I've had the knee surgeries, I've had multiple co-morbidities myself, slowly though checking that off," she said.
