LET’S GO TO YOU. WHAT DO YOU WHAT DO YOU KNOW? WELL, RICK THE LAST HOMICIDE DETECTIVE JUST LEFT THE SCENE WITHIN THE LAST FEW MOMENTS. SO THINGS ARE WRAPPING UP HERE JUST TO SET THE SCENE OF WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW. THIS IS THE EAST PAGES LANE COMPLEX ABOUT A BLOCK AND A HALF. THAT WAY IS DIXIE HIGHWAY AND JUST BEYOND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX OVER THE TREE LINE IS THE WAVERLY HILLS SANATORIUM. THAT WAS ACTUALLY IN ONE OF THESE UNITS BEHIND ME WHERE THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE EARLIER THIS EVENING TAKE A LOOK AT THE VIDEO THAT WE SHOT ONCE. WE ARRIVED HERE ON SEEN POLICE WERE CALLED OUT HERE IS JUST BEFORE 7:00 TONIGHT WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY FOUND WHAT THEY DESCRIBED TO BE A JUVENILE MALE WHO HAD BEEN SHOT FIRST RESPONDERS BEGAN PERFORMING CPR AND OTHER LIFE-SAVING MEASURES. HE WAS THEN TAKEN TO NORTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD. IT’S A TRAGEDY ANYTIME ANYONE SHOT IN THE CITY EVEN MORE SO. A CHILD SO A JUVENILE AT THIS POINT. LIKE I SAID, IT DOESN’T MATTER IF IT’S ADULT OR JUVENILE. IT’S THE GUN VIOLENCE IN THE CITY IS OBVIOUSLY DISTURBING AND AND IT’S A TRAGEDY THAT SOMEONE’S YOU KNOW FAMILY MEMBER. NOW LMPD HAS NOT SAID HOW MANY TIMES THE CHILD WAS SHOT OR WHO MIGHT HAVE PULLED THE TRIGGER OR JUST EXACTLY HOW OLD HE WAS. THEY DID SAY THAT THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE INSIDE THAT APARTMENT AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTING BUT THEY WOULD NOT ELABORATE BEYOND THAT RIGHT NOW. An 11-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in southwest Louisville near the PRP and Valley Station neighborhoods on Monday evening, according to Louisville Metro Police. Around 6:45 p.m., officers from LMPD's Third Division received a call for a shooting that took place inside a home in the 4700 block of East Pages Lane, according to LMPD Mjr. Mindy Vance.When officers arrived on scene, they found an 11-year-old boy who had sustained a gunshot wound.Officers and EMS personnel began to render aid and transported the boy to Norton Children's Hospital.Despite life-saving efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the hospital."It doesn't matter if it's an adult or a juvenile. The gun violence in this city is obviously disturbing and it's a tragedy. That's someone's family member," said Vance.LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating.Police said the boy was inside an apartment when he was shot and that other people were inside the apartment at the time.Investigators have not said yet whether they were family nor if they were involved in the shooting, and there have been no arrests made at thist ime.
