Suspect ID’d in officer involved shooting

 

MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police have identified the suspect shot by Mt. Vernon Police Saturday night.

According to ISP, Terrell Burnam, a 20-year-old from Harvey, Illinois, was involved in an armed home invasion just before midnight Saturday. After crashing his vehicle while running from police, an armed Burnam tried to run, but was shot by a Mt. Vernon officer. No police were hurt.

Terrell Burnam was taken to the hospital and then to the Jefferson County Jail. He faces one count each of home invasion armed violence.
