It's not everyday a celebrity comes to town and puts your restaurant on national television. Fortunately, that's what happened to the Central City Cafe in West Huntington.
Since Guy Fieri showcased the cafe on his popular "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives," people are still visiting the 14th Street West eatery 15 years later.
Dave Luther owns the cafe with his wife, Sherry. Their children also work at the popular joint in the middle of the antique district.
Central City Cafe has served up country cuisine for 30 years using fresh ingredients and quality meat.
"I've always had a full house about every day," Dave Luther said.
Some of the menu highlights include baked steak, meatloaf, open-faced roast beef, wieners and kraut and salmon patties.
When Fieri came to town to shoot a segment for Luther's business, things changed for the Luthers.
"After that aired it's been overwhelming really. It put us on the map," Dave Luther said. "We were picked as one of the top 100 restaurants in West Virginia. I've had customers from Washington state, Texas, Florida, Montana, Canada, Vermont and everywhere"
Luther said he thinks his best sandwich is the Rueben with Jewish rye bread and fresh corned beef.
Soup is another big hit, even in the summer. The tomato soup is unique and made from scratch. Luther's wife says she adds parmesan and swiss cheese for extra flavor and thickness.
