DOVER — Tractors, trucks and trains, oh my!

A farm toy show featuring these items and more has been added to the attractions at the 58th annual Dover Steam Show at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds Aug. 19-21.

The historic Four-Way Barn will be the backdrop for the toy show, which will include toy replicas of historical and modern farm machinery, model trains of all sizes, toy trucks of every type and even miniature pieces of construction equipment. A number of vendors is expected for the event, which is Saturday only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We routinely have a few toy vendors at each year’s show but we really wanted to expand the toy selection this year,” said coordinator Ben Pauli. “A toy show like this is a natural addition to our already great steam show and allows everyone to take a little piece of the show home with them.”

Admission to the Dover Steam Show, which includes admission to Saturday’s toy show and all events that weekend, is $7 with kids 12 and under admitted free.

Attendees will be treated to the usual educational displays of working antique farm and milling equipment that include a circular sawmill; a shingle mill; a threshing machine and baler. Construction equipment, farm trucks, crawlers and garden tractors will be featured, as well as tractors of every make and model.

“W e have a love of the old ways and feel that it is up to us to preserve the history,” said Tuscarawas Valley Pioneer Power Association President Emily Weldon. “We want to be able to show the next generation how our grandparents and great-grandparents did things back in the day. Back in the ‘good old days’ life was simple but also involved a lot of hard work and neighbors helping neighbors.”

The annual garden tractor pull will be Friday, Aug. 19, at 6 at the grandstand with weigh-in starting at 4. Saturday is a full day of activities including a pedal tractor pull for all ages at 1 at the grandstand and the evening tractor fun pull is at 5.

The arts and crafts show will also be held in the Four-Way Barn. A large area for flea market vendors will also be available.

The TVPPA is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to display antique farm machinery and educate the public about antique farming methods.
