Pedestrian struck by vehicle while crossing Main Street in Frankenmuth

FRANKENMUTH, MI — A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Main Street in Frankenmuth.

About 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, police responded to the collision at Main and Genesee streets. They arrived to find a 65-year-old Frankenmuth woman unresponsive, lying in the road.

Officers and Mobile Medical Response personnel treated the woman on scene, who was then taken via ambulance to Covenant HealthCare hospital in Saginaw. She was admitted with very serious injuries, the specifics of which police did not provide.

Officers’ investigation indicates the woman was walking west from the corner CVS Pharmacy at 111 N. Main St. She had the “walk” signal and was in the inner northbound lane when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Vassar man who trying to turn north onto Main from Genesee.

The Saginaw County Accident Investigation Team is assisting the Frankenmuth Police Department in the ongoing investigation. Birch Run police officers and Frankenmuth firefighters also responded to the scene.
