WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- New details on a northern Michigan church that burned to the ground early Saturday morning.
The Haring Township Fire Chief said the fire started out small, and at one point was completely out.
But while waiting for Consumers Energy to come turn off the electricity, another fire sparked.
“The building may be gone, but the church is alive and well in this community,” Revival Center Pastor Will Markham said.
Markham said Sunday service went on as planned after dozens of people came out to help put up this tent.
Community members also donated chairs, speakers and two other tents so this Sunday the church can have its childrens ministry.
“They are an amazing community and amazing group of people,” Markham said. “People we had never seen in church showed up on the property just to help. They come up and say, ‘can we lend a hand what can we do? How can we help?’”
For those who want to help, Markham said financial donations are preferred at this point because the church doesn’t know exactly what they need yet.
The fire chief said investigators will be out Tuesday morning in hopes to determine the cause of the fire.
