MICAH GOEBEL NAMED NEW BURTON HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Micah Goebel was named Monday night as the new principal of Burton High School. She was joined by her husband, Garrison, and their two children, Ryan and Duncan.

Burton High School students will be greeted by a new face this fall.

The Burton School Board on Monday unanimously approved the hiring of Micah Goebel as the new high school principal.

Goebel is starting her 15th year in education, with 13 of those years in Snook ISD as a teacher, coach and administrator.  She worked in Somerville ISD last year as the elementary and intermediate principal.

Goebel said Snook, Somerville and Burton are all smaller school districts, so her previous experience should translate well into her new role.

Goebel said a primary factor in choosing Burton was staying close to home.

Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy said Burton ISD feels Goebel can be involved in its building projects, as she went through a similar process following the passage of Snook ISD’s bond.  She believes Goebel will be “a dedicated and committed member of the Burton Panther family.”

Goebel was named to the position after former principal Matthew Wamble agreed to join Taylor ISD as its new high school principal.

Also at Monday’s meeting, trustees approved the 2022-23 teacher pay scale, supplemental salary schedule and substitute salary schedule.

  1. Congratulations Mrs. Goebel! I remember you well from the Snook years. During the games you were intense and competitive. After the game you were polite and gracious. Burton ISD will be a great place to work. The teachers and students are serious about academics. The parents and students support most administrative policies. With the new construction Burton ISD will have some of the newest facilities from Elementary through High School. The community is proud of their schools. Burton is a small school, but there is none better. Best wishes to all.
