Proposed pedestrian bride over Wade Ave.

Construction to Start on Blue Ridge Road Bike-Ped Improvement Project

Bike lane and sidewalk improvements are coming

This news article is more than a year old.

The city is starting construction on the Blue Ridge Road Bike-Ped Improvement Project In mid-July.

This project will create bike and pedestrian connectivity along Blue Ridge Road from Trinity Road to Reedy Creek Road. The 10 foot multi-use path will increase connectivity to various parts of the city, including the Museum of Art, Umstead Park, and the Reedy Creek Trail.

This project includes two exciting features! First, the pedestrian bridge over Wade Ave will create a memorable entrance into the city. Also, the Reedy Creek intersection will be the first protected intersection built in the city.

Visit the project page for more details!

Wondering what to expect during construction?

  • Construction to begin in July
  • Lane closures during non-peak traffic hours
  • No planned road closures along Blue Ridge Rd
  • Expected project completion by October 2023
