The Wayland City Council will meet in a special Tuesday session this evening. The main item of business is to conduct interviews for and hire to fill an open public works position. According to City Clerk Beverly Conrad, the individual would be responsible for handling gas, sewer and water utility locations, testing and requirements, streets, including snow removal and leaf pickup, mowing and maintenance for the city. Earlier this month, long-time public works employee Randy Morrow retired after 16 years with the city department. The meeting starts at 6p.m. Tuesday at Wayland City Hall.
