State police in Uniontown said a pit bull attacked a 37-year-old man Tuesday morning at a home in Fayette County.
He was flown to the hospital in a medical helicopter following the dog attack. The severity of the victim’s injuries had not been released, but a Dunbar Township official said Tuesday morning that the victim was in surgery.
Troopers said the dog lived at the home with the victim. The attack happened along Center Street in Dickerson Run.
State police said troopers went to help emergency responders just after 5:15 a.m. When they arrived, state police said the 37-year-old man was being Life Flighted from the scene.
He was conscious and alert.
Troopers said that this was an unprovoked bite. They believe this was a household dog and the man lived at the home.
The official from Dunbar Township said the victim's step-father and owner of the dog will have to sign a court order in order for animal control to put the dog in a kennel.
