Intruder breaks into La Crosse’s sanctions office, mistakenly thinking police were trying to arrest him

A man from Superior, Wis., was trying to turn himself in at the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office this weekend

Tavier Holling thought he had outstanding warrants but couldn’t get into the building to surrender to authorities.

So, the 30-year-old reportedly smashed a glass door to let himself inside the justice sanctions center of the courthouse.

It turns out, however, Holling was not wanted and there was not a warrant for his arrest.

He’s facing charges now, however — causing criminal damage and bail jumping. Holling is in the county jail, under a cash bond.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk."
