A Bucyrus man was arraigned Monday on a reckless homicide charge in connection with the shooting death of his wife last month.

Jennifer Morgan, 49, 627 W. Mansfield St., died at Avita Health System-Bucyrus Hospital on May 18 after being shot in the head, Bucyrus police reported last month.

Her husband, Anthony J. Morgan, 52, same address, was arrested in connection with the shooting and has been indicted by a grand jury on a charge of reckless homicide, a third-degree felony, said Matt Crall, Crawford County prosecutor.

"According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Morgan recklessly discharged his firearm one time, striking his wife in the head," according to a May 20 news release from Crall’s office and the Bucyrus Police Department.

Anthony Morgan's bond was set at $250,000 during his Monday arraignment in Crawford County Common Pleas Court, Crall said.

"He could be facing a total of six years in prison," Crall said. "Three years for the homicide, three years because he used a firearm in the commission of the offense, allegedly."

Bucyrus police and firefighters were called to the couple's home at 627 W. Mansfield St. at 2:07 a.m. May 18, the Bucyrus Police Department reported in a May news release. They found Jennifer Morgan with a gunshot wound to the head. She was treated at the scene by firefighters and then taken to the Bucyrus hospital, where she died.

She worked at the Crawford County Council on Aging, where she was the home care coordinator.
