BROCKTON — A late-night deep dive on social media sparked a Brockton woman's newest business venture — a bouncy house rental, Jalani Jumps, One Stop Luxury LLC

Nayara Barbosa was up until 5 a.m. endlessly scrolling through her Instagram "for you" page. This section of the app generates content that you may like based on your personal interests.

And Barbosa came across an unusual business page of a woman who rents luxury bouncy houses. However, the search did not stop there. Barbosa went onto other social media sites, including Tik Tok, to watch other similar bouncy house businesses.

Once the entrepreneur saw the market for this business, she knew a plan needed to be created quickly.

In Barbosa's mind, becoming an entrepreneur was the only way to gain true financial freedom.

"Once I started mapping out my business plan, I sent hundreds of emails to vendors overseas to inquire about a bouncy house, but no one responded except one," Barbosa said.

The vendor charged $1,600 for Barbosa's first bouncy house, but it wasn't what she expected. The inflatable kid's toy was nothing like the pictures.

Barbosa burst into tears and thought for a moment maybe this wasn't for her. As a single mother working a full-time job and trying to start a business, this was a significant financial blow.

Unfortunately, the entrepreneur was unable to get a refund, and the vendor eventually blocked her.

"I remember sitting and asking God for a sign to what to do next. Then, I looked at my daughter sleeping and immediately knew I had to put my foot on the gas and bounce back," Barbosa said.

Barbosa started major sacrifices and changed her lifestyle. The entrepreneur stopped partying, going out with friends and spending money on beauty services to get a hold of her finances and focus.

Many people didn't understand why Barbosa was suddenly staying home every day and keeping to herself, but she told herself it would be worth it in the end.

"People will see why I disappeared, and my daughter will have something of her own one day," Barbosa said.

As the months rolled by, Barbosa carefully planned the final touches to her business and was able to finally launch on June 5.

To add some flare to clients' parties, Barbosa works with talented party planners in Brockton, including HynsTouch, who specializes in balloon decoration and handmade garlands to bring a client's party to the next level.

The main inspiration behind continuing to power through trials and tribulations was Barbosa's late uncle, who always encouraged her to succeed.

After his death, Barbosa didn't know how she would live without him here, she said.

The entrepreneur wanted to keep his memory alive and honor her daughter —she thought this business would be a great addition to the world.

In Cape Verde, where Barbosa was born, her uncle owned a nightclub called One Stop, which is the main reason for her business name.

Launching a party business was much more than Barbosa expected, but she is excited to embark on this new chapter of her life.

At first, many friends and family members laughed at her idea and didn't think she would stick with it, but Barbosa continues to prove people wrong and dream beyond the stars.
