Fresh off a 2nd Region baseball title and a trip to the KHSAA state tournament, Christian County’s Elijah Underhill has de-committed from Western Kentucky University and reopened his recruitment per his Twitter account.

Underhill had a big junior season to help the Colonels to a 29-8 record and an 8th-District title before they fell to St. Xavier in the opening round of the state tournament.

He led the Colonels with a .377 average, 59 runs, 43 hits, and nine home runs on the way to 1st Team All-State and 2nd Region Player of the Year honors.  He also dazzled on the mound, making 11 starts and striking out 139 batters in 69 innings with a 6-2 record and a 2.54 ERA.

Underhill committed to the Hilltoppers in September of 2021.  After taking the covid year, he will be back on the field for the Colonels as a senior in 2023.
