Police were searching for clues after a man was fatally shot Monday in Tacoma, which has been beset by a string of violent shootings over the past two days.
Investigators have not revealed many details about the case, and it was unclear if a suspect was in custody or if the victim knew the person who shot them.
Police said in a social media post that officers were called to the 800 block of E. 65th Street shortly before 10 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police.
The man, who was not identified, was rushed to a local hospital, where he died, police said.
The fatal shooting occurred on the same day that several residents in the city gathered to talk about the growing crime rate in the city.
It was the latest shooting in the Pierce County city since early Sunday, when gunfire erupted during an argument outside a private venue where a dance party was being held.
In that shooting, eight people were wounded although there were no fatalities reported.
Later that night, a shooting was reported at a Tacoma home in the 900 block of E. 52nd Street around 11:30 p.m. In that shooting five people suffered gunshot wounds, and one of the victims, a 38-year-old man, later died.
