February 8, 1957  ~  June 23, 2022

Our beloved David Victor Choules passed away peacefully at home in Oak City in the early morning on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

He was 65 years young. We are grateful he is no longer in pain and are at peace with his passing.

David was born on February 8, 1957 in Inglewood, California to John and Doris Johnson Choules. In his youth, David experienced an accident and, as a result, lost his eyesight. This event fueled David's tenacity for life. He would serve a proselytizing mission in California; and after his mission, David owned and operated a VHS rental store in Arcata, California.

David met and shortly after married Donna Lynn Nielson on March 1, 1986 in the Manti LDS Temple. In California, they served faithfully as stake missionaries. Upon moving to Utah, they purchased their home in Oak City, where they grew their family through foster care, and then were blessed by the births of their children Alex and Mariann. He is also the proud grandfather of his grandchildren: Oaklynn Sage and Aiden Wayne Choules.

David never used his disability as an excuse, especially when it came to church callings. He loved going to the podium to bear his testimony, teaching primary, overseeing church cleaning, and serving in the temple. David obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University in History. He also did volunteer work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Braille editing, but being a father was David's biggest blessing. David was truly everyone's friend. He loved sitting and holding conversations about history, politics, and the gospel. He loved telling jokes and expressing his sense of humor.

David is survived by his beautiful wife: Donna Lynn Choules; his son: Alex (Lindsey De Lora) Choules; daughter: Mariann Choules; two grandchildren; nephew: Michael Teagle; his mother: Doris Bates; and siblings: Jack, Ryan, Dale, Grant, Stacy, Nancy, and Karen. He was preceded in death by his father: John Choules.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, at 11 a.m., at the Oak City LDS Chapel, 35 East Center St. A Viewing will be held, 9:30 to 10:40 a.m., prior to service. Burial will follow at the Oak City Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.nicklemortuary.com.
