Video shows Waukesha police in tactical gear force a man to the ground after a four and a half hour long standoff Monday.
Waukesha Police Department said it started around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon when they learned a sex offender was living with a woman and children at Sunset Homes Condominiums near East and Garfield avenues.
Police said the man was on probation for child exploitation/enticement and was in violation of his probation by living with the woman and children. Police said they did not know the extent of the relationship he had with the kids.
Waukesha police said they safely removed everyone else from the residence, but when they tried serving the man an arrest warrant, he refused to leave.
Officers said he told them he would "not go back to jail without fight."
After refusing to leave, police said they tried negotiating with the man, used K9s, tried texting and calling and used a PA system but he would not come out.
Police said they then used threw pepper ball inside, a chemical similar to pepper spray, and went inside.
Waukesha police said they tased the man to get him under control and took him to a hospital as a precautionary measure.
WISN 12 News cameras were rolling as police in tactical gear led the man outside. The man was screaming profanities at officers. Then one officer trips the man, taking him down to the ground.
The family living with the man and other neighbors would not speak on camera to WISN 12 News about the incident.
Police have not released the man's name because he has not been charged.
