Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man was sent to jail Monday after police say he stabbed another man multiple times during a fight.
Tyus Clayton, 23, of Syracuse, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Clayton is accused of stabbing a 30-year-old Syracuse man multiple times in the midsection and arms during the fight, which happened before officers arrived, city police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said.
Syracuse police and firefighters, and American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance were called to the 300 block of North McBride Street at 11:25 a.m. for a reported stabbing, Malinowski said. When they arrived, they found the injured man.
AMR took the stabbing victim to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he is expected to survive, Malinowski said.
Clayton was later arrested and booked on the assault and weapons charges. He remained at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail Monday night. He is scheduled to answer the charges Friday in Syracuse City Court, records show.
