Concrete bear stolen from non-profit DSSKY

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky is asking for the community’s help in locating their concrete bear, which was stolen from outside their building over the weekend.

The 25 lb. concrete bear was hand painted and gifted to the organization. It sat in the flower bed outside the front door and welcomed people who visited the Buddy House.

DSSKY and the Buddy House serve the down syndrome community in Warren County. Stephanie Morton, executive director of DSSKY is disappointed that someone would steal from their organization.

“We’re a non-profit. We’re down here just to help others and so to take something from us is taking it from a much bigger community than just the Buddy House, just from our flower box, it affects all of the people we serve,” said Morton.

Morton says DSSKY recently received a grant that will allow them to purchase security cameras for their building. She hopes this story prevents people from stealing from other non-profits in the future.
