The number of people who went through security checkpoints just hit a pandemic-era high.
On Sunday, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported that more than 2.4 million passed through its checkpoints.
That's the most since February 2020, before the pandemic tanked travel demand.
Albany International Airport hit its busiest day on Monday.
According to TSA, the airport is expecting 5,241 passengers to board a plane Monday, the most since the start of the pandemic.
The summer travel season officially kicked off today and our travelers are back," said Philip Calderone, CEO of the Albany County Airport Authority." "This is turning out to be a busy week as we approached the July 4th holiday weekend."
At the height of the pandemic in 2020, Albany International Airport’s passenger numbers fell as low as 100 a day.

With long lines anticipated, TSA and the Airport Authority are advising travelers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight’s departure.
