All the podcast’s fun, games and information return this week
It’s a chance to get to know Parkville’s new mayor from the comfort of your favorite space, wherever that may be.
In April following the sometimes tumultuous tenure of previous leader Nan Johnston, Parkville voters elected Dean Katerndahl as new mayor. On Thursday night he’ll be the featured guest on Landmark Live, The Landmark’s podcast which is broadcast on the newspaper’s Facebook page (Platte County Landmark).
How have his first few months in office gone? Any surprises? What does he enjoy about being mayor? Biggest challenges?
Landmark Live will air live at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 30. The video will then remain posted on The Platte County Landmark’s Facebook page and the newspaper’s YouTube channel for viewing at your leisure.
The podcast is broadcast from The Landmark’s studio on the second level of the newspaper’s office at 252 Main St. in downtown Platte City.
A casual and off-the-cuff conversation with Katerndahl will be hosted by Landmark publisher Ivan Foley with co-host Brad Carl, a local musician and radio disc jockey.
Katerndahl will be asked about the highlights of his first few months in office and look ahead to what’s in store at Parkville.
Katerndahl is retired after working for 18 years as the government innovations forum director for the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), a nine-county association of local governments dedicated to improving service and efficiency in local government operations.
In November when he announced as a candidate, Katerndahl informed voters that his campaign would feature his experience, his integrity, and his intention to “implement, and continuously revisit the vision for the city as reflected in the Parkville Master Plan, the Parkville Park Plan, and the governing body’s strategic goals and priorities.”
If desired, viewers will be able to post questions and comments in the Facebook comments section as the show is happening.
This episode of Landmark Live will also briefly preview the area’s upcoming Fourth of July celebrations, and viewers can expect the hosts to engage in a game they like to call “Dead or Alive?” The game typically focuses on the hosts quizzing each other about the status of old-time celebrities who may have fallen out of public consciousness in recent years, asking the important question: Dead or alive?
